Helmsman
Core autonomy & navigation stack. One brain, every hull. Helmsman is the common guidance, navigation, and control layer that runs on every SLS vehicle — surface and subsea — from COLREGS maneuvering to GNSS-denied dead reckoning.

Helmsman pairs a rule-based COLREGS layer and velocity-obstacle geometry with a learned policy for dense traffic, on top of A*, D*, and sampling-based planners running over prior and live bathymetry. The decision core is deterministic and model-checkable — built for certification, not just demos.
Because the same stack drives Slackwater, Riptide, Sounder, and Backeddy through a common API, behaviors transfer across hulls, training carries over, and a fix made once is fixed fleet-wide.
The v4 build — with its full GNSS-denied navigation regression suite passing — is in formal certification.
